Come and try on GREEN in Tīraine!
The day will start at 10:30 with a discussion event “Idea Runway” organized by the associations “Pierīgas partnerība” and “Partnerība Daugavkrasts” under the leadership of television and radio journalist, lecturer and event moderator Anšis Bogustovs. During the event, topics important for the development of the community and the region to improve the quality of life of residents will be discussed in a free atmosphere with residents. After the event, the ideas that have been expressed will be summarized, which will be passed on to municipalities to promote the development of the territory. Find out more and find the registration form: ej.uz/ideju_skrejcels_2024 . The event is implemented within the project "Strength of Neighboring Communities", No. 2023.LV/NVOF/MAC/041/58. Financial support is provided by the Society Integration Fund from the Latvian state budget funds allocated by the Ministry of Culture.
From 13:00, the “Green Flea Market” will take place, where locals and guests will have the opportunity to buy or offer visitors to buy things they don’t need but are useful to others, which have been stored in a closet, garage, attic or basement. Anyone can become a trader at the market, providing a second chance for things they don’t need – antiques, games, tools, sports equipment, decorations, furniture, dishes, etc. – to find new owners.
From 2:00 p.m. on stage, there will be an opportunity to gain knowledge in educational lectures about textiles, textile recycling and their reuse, which will be interspersed with fashion shows by eco-fashion artist and owner of the brand “Zīle” Aiva Zīle, who thinks green and does green, where materials that have already served their purpose and have been given a second lease of life were used to make the clothes on display. The event will feature Ķekava municipality youth worker Agnese Lāne with a lecture “Let it matter what you wear”, eco-trainer Jeļena Zemņicka of “Latvijas Zaļā punkta” with a lecture “Style changes, textiles remain: what to do with unnecessary textiles?” and Agnese Gaidelione from IEBER.LV - “Practical, small steps in sustainable everyday life”.
