There are also non-alcoholic versions, where the base is a variety of substances - sugar syrup, glycerin, propylene glycol, invert sugar, corn syrup, etc. But since vanilla extract is very concentrated, very little is needed for flavoring.
How to cook at home? Four vanilla pods, cut in half lengthwise, are poured with 100 ml of vodka and kept in a sealed container for at least 2-3 weeks. The extract prepared in this way can be stored for up to 4-5 years.
If you need the extract right away, you can replace it with vanilla sugar – a teaspoon of extract will equal 10-15 grams of vanilla sugar. Keep in mind that vanilla sugar can be natural or synthetic. Of course, if possible, it is better to choose the first option.
