During the cycle, you can hear the device pumping out water, and when it does and there is a hollow sound, you can open the door and sprinkle citric acid on the floor. Close it tightly so that the device continues its work and washes it thoroughly from the inside. By the way, if the idea of running the device empty seems useless, you can put in the hood filters, oven racks or even baking trays during this wash.
Few people will have thought about it, but you can also pour citric acid into the water compartment of your iron to clean the deposits and the inside of the tank.
