We are the authors of the Little Steps fairy tale and, together with the team, illustrator Silva Lipānes and educator Daci Taurītė, we created digital worksheets to share in simple language tasks that develop children's fine motor skills, mathematics, and language skills through the Little Steps family.

The worksheets are interesting because the tasks are different, more creative than in standard workbooks. A 6-year-old completed them, so it's good that there's always text to read for himself. So far, we haven't managed to complete much, we only got to page 10, but we'll definitely continue. Attached are some pictures. Krista K.

I must admit, though, that we're not quite there yet.

We tried it with two girls: 6 and 4 years old, both learning to read, both have used different worksheets before.

Both girls enjoyed the tasks. I will list my observations:

+ I liked that the story is structured as if it were about a family. Family is a self-evident structure for them, they see families everywhere in their everyday lives;

+ the chosen characters were familiar objects. It turned out that our shampoo was even the exact size of the one drawn on the page;

+ the ability to color and cut everything "into a roll";

+the task with counting was more challenging, but I really liked it: the numbers were written in mirror image and upside down, there were sometimes mistakes when counting, but both of them counted, wrote, and colored with enthusiasm;

+ we really liked the crossword puzzle (probably because we hadn't done one before), it was also a chance for us to talk about how many different words can be used to describe the same thing, and why it's better to write with a regular pencil than a colored one;

- we didn't complete the practical tasks (making bubble liquids, etc.), but I wrote down an idea for the summer.

+ it's really cool that you can read something on all the pages in block letters. No one reads in small letters yet. My eldest daughter also knows the small letters, but the small ones are harder to recognize and she lacked patience.

Overall: I was more expecting that we would have a conversation about the environment during the tasks. That didn't happen, because the tasks are quite engaging and demanding, my comments slipped by. I took the opportunity to return to some topics on other occasions (when I saw the trash cans near the store). Thank you! Danute G.
