Marigold flowers are used in cooking, cosmetics and medicine – they are added to baked goods, used to color butter and cheese, used in toothpastes, detergents, hygiene products. Marigold flowers are a raw material in the production of medicines, complex food teas and health-promoting aids.

Calendula flowers are usually included in dietary herbal teas in an amount of no more than 5% of the total mass of the mixture. Here are some combinations in which calendula is commonly used!

• Rose hips and chokeberry fruits, chamomile and meadowsweet flowers, strawberry and blackcurrant leaves strengthen the body's natural defenses, improve immune system functions, delay aging-related physiological changes in the body, and have a beneficial effect on metabolism.
• In a mixture with sage and lemon balm leaves, yarrow leaves, and hop cones, the tea can be used in gynecology - to prevent climacteric discomfort and nervousness. In combination with chamomile and linden flowers, yarrow and St. John's wort leaves, nettle leaves, and oak bark, it is used topically for rinsing, as well as orally to relieve pain and regulate menstrual bleeding.
• With mint leaves, dandelion roots, and horsetail, it helps cleanse the liver and gallbladder, promoting the formation and secretion of bile.
• For the prevention of digestive disorders: with rosemary leaves and burdock root or with lemon balm and mallow leaves, yarrow leaves - for mild stomach spasms; together with cassia, marshmallow, mint and lemon balm leaves, hyssop leaves - for the prevention of mild constipation.
• With goldenrod, violet and yarrow leaves, yarrow rhizomes, parsley and dandelion roots – for urinary system health and urine flow regulation.
• With rose hips and marshmallows – lung tea for children.

What to use?

• The average single dose of the drug is one to two grams for tea, also for compresses and rinses. It is prepared by taking one to two teaspoons of the drug per cup of water. A warm infusion can be used for inflammation of the mouth and throat, drinking one third to half a glass orally between meals.
• The tincture is used orally in special cases, on the skin - for the treatment of superficial wounds and oromucosally for rinsing the oral cavity, diluting two to four milliliters with one quarter to half a liter of water. For skin disinfection in case of abrasions, use undiluted tincture, moistening wounds is carried out only along the edges of the wounds. For compresses, dilute with water in a ratio of 1:3.
• 2%–5% ointment is used transdermally. It is important to remember that in children, transdermal products should only be used on intact skin.

Calendula-containing preparations should be used for no longer than one to two weeks. There are no duration limits for external use, the expert explains.
